F1 is a fine entertainmen...First define 'success'.<br /><br />F1 is a fine entertainment for those who like to watch it, read about it etc (most viewers don't care about how it's financed), and is funded by advertisers (who pay for logos on cars or for TV commercials in the ad breaks). <br /><br />In the middle of all this are people who enjoy mucking about with cars (about whom neither the spectator nor the advertiser gives a chuff).<br /><br />So if viewers enjoy watching, if banks and tobacco companies or whoever can generate extra income by paying for advertising and people who enjoy mucking about with cars get paid for doing so, then I consider that a resounding success.<br /><br />I'm with Clarkson on this one, who pointed out in The Sun today that Ross Brawn and Adrian Newey between them are responsible for about 90% of the last twenty years of F1 overall championship wins.
